Frequently Asked Questions

Our library is run by a dedicated paid librarian, supported by a wonderful team of volunteers who assist with the day-to-day operation of the library.  We are always looking for new volunteers and warmly encourage parents and members of our community to get involved.  If you are able to commit to one morning each week, we would love to have you join the team.  As a thank you for your regular contribution, weekly volunteers are eligible for a discounted library membership.

If you are interested in volunteering or would like to learn more, please speak to our librarian.  Your support helps keep our library a welcoming and thriving resource for the whole community.

Dedicated Toy Library parking is available off of Bank Street, alongside the church building.

Additional parking is available:

  • on Wolfe Street, at the rear of the church.
  • in the church carpark on Wolfe Street, across the road.
  • on Bank Street, in front of the church, for short visits.

Please note that church events are sometimes held during Toy Library opening hours, which may limit the availability of parking.  We apologize for any inconvenience and are happy to help carry your toys to your vehicle if needed and able.

There is a limit of 4 toys per family plus a puzzle and a book. You are allowed ONE - Green Spot Toy as part of the four toys. The toys are checked out for 14 days at a time.

However, if you take a new casual membership - you are only allowed 2 toys, 1 puzzle and a book until the 3rd visit when it will increase to the above allowance.

Toys with lots of pieces are great fun but can be tricky to keep together!  These simple tips can help:

At Home

  • Check the toy and its pieces when you get home.
  • Take a quick photo of the pieces to make packing up easier.
  • Keep Toy Library toys in one designated play area.
  • Store all pieces in the container or bag after each play session.
  • For toys with many small pieces, use a table or play mat to help keep everything together.
  • If you have visitors, supervise play or put the toy away to prevent pieces from going missing.

Before Returning

  • Check that all pieces, bags, boxes and instruction sheets are included.
  • If something is missing or broken, please let the librarian know.  Often missing pieces turn up in bags, cars, toy boxes or around the house.
